Hydrating & Dry Frying Mushrooms

This video shows how to properly hydrate and dry fry mushrooms.

Steps involved:

  1. Place dehydrated mushrooms in a bowl and cover with water, wine, bouillon, etc. 
  2. Let mushrooms hydrate for 12 - 30 minutes.
  3. Cover the frying pan with a small amount of the mushroom hydrating liquid.
  4. Transfer hydrated mushrooms to frying pan.
  5. Turn on stove to medium-high heat and begin to boil off the liquid in the mushrooms and in the frying pan.
  6. Once 90% of the liquid has boiled off turn stove down to medium heat. Add a 1/4" thick piece of butter to the frying pan (quality oil can be used instead of butter if preferred).
  7. Coat the mushrooms with the melted butter.
  8. Fry mushrooms on medium heat until golden brown color is achieved.
  9. Salt and season to taste and enjoy these mushroom delish delights.
